Best Baking Clay Oven

👤I make earrings out of clay, but it isn't very durable. I don't feel comfortable selling items made with this product because it's so easy to snap. It's a pity because the colors are beautiful. It's easy to stick to things. It can be a good thing, but it isn't.

👤Several of the colors that arrived don't match what's advertised and I wanted to use the "natural" colors for woodland images. The green and red are both very bright, the tan in the second row is actually orange, and the gray at the bottom left is much darker than the image. I will need to get some other colors to get the natural colors I want.

👤This was purchased for a girls camp and it worked great. It was easy to use, they didn't have to mess up their hands, it was quick to cook and cool, and there was no smell or dye left on their hands. They had their necklaces done in 25 minutes. I used this with a group of 7 girls and one 3rd graders, and a teen taught the station. They had to mix the two pieces of "small" with a bit. We poked a hole through the center of the ball with a large needle. The group seems to be into choker necklaces, so I used stretchy string for the necklace. I formed a small cross later. We were so happy to do this.

👤I bought this one because I wanted something that wasn't a lot of product, and I wanted to try it out. It was a nightmare. This clay is hard to work with, it smells funny, and it sticks to your fingers. Every time I use this clay, my fingers get very dry and I will wait a long time before using it again. I wonder if it was toxic fumes that made the smell weird when you bake it. I hadn't tried any other clay before. I recently purchased a premo. I can tell you not to waste your time with SculpeyIII. If you want to do small things, keep in mind that it will dry my hands. Sculpey premo or soufflé is all you have to do.

👤My daughter loves Sculpey clay. She doesn't have the fancy equipment to work with clay because she is just starting. Scupley is the best. She has tried a lot of different things and all have had problems. It's too hard to lose color, crack and fall apart. Here is what we like. The colors are bright. We have never had a fade or loose color after baking it. You can cook in the oven. You don't need fancy equipment. Just use the oven. Soft. The clay is very soft. You can store it in a container for weeks and it won't dry up, but I don't recommend it. Scupley looks the same when you put it in. There are tons of colors to choose from. They have any color that you might need. Sculpey is recommended by us very highly.

👤I don't like Sculpey III, it's too soft. It sticks to your fingers after holding it for a while, making it hard to make anything. Since you can't shape it with a tool or your finger, it's almost impossible. I have been putting it between two paper bags for a day or two to make it a bit stronger, so it doesn't fall apart in my hands.

👤It's very easy to make ornaments with this. After baking, it paints well. It took a little bit of testing on the bake times. Sometimes it's hard to judge the thickness of something that's not uniformly shaped, but in the end I'm happy with this and will buy it again for more projects.

I don't leave fingerprints on clay because I use my palm and tool to shape it. Instructions on how to dry the clay are included in the box. The project can fit in a jar. I use a stove oven to bake the clay, which is about 250F for 15 minutes. My project came out well. The light weight of the clay makes it perfect for a gift. This product is friendly for all ages and not expensive, so I would definitely recommend it. The star house in a jar was one of the small projects I did. I used the clay kit to make decorations for the tree in the jar, and the stars for the constellation on the outside of the jar.

👤I have been making fun earrings out of clay. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on name brand clay until I was more confident in my skills. The pack has a lot of fun tools and supplies. I think it's worth the money because of how much I get in the box. I was disappointed to see that the red clay was thrown on the ground and ran over with a car. It is hard to use and dirty. I am happy with my purchase and have no complaints.

👤I don't recommend jewelry making with this clay. I tried to make earrings with clay that was sticky and difficult to press flat. It formed small bumps on the clay when it was baked. I wouldn't recommend it.

👤Even though one box came missing tools, it appeared that they were opened to remove the tools, which gave the impression that they were burnt. I already have a set of this clay, so it's fine for me. The portions are more exact, and the clay makes beautiful Skinner Blends. I don't use any of the jewellery pieces, but one bracelet was missing an end cap. If I wanted to use it, I covered the other cap with clay and created a clay cap. Creating a clay cap works well if you have the same situation. It's a good thing. The gold clay is beautiful. The gold in the box is gorgeous, but I wish there were more metallic/glitter clays in it. The colors of the clay are not the same as they were before I got the newer version. The pastels in the old version were lovely and I wish this had some of them. It could be that my eyes see the same color. Even if the amounts in clay weren't completely consistent, I would purchase this clay again. It's a good thing.

👤This is a good choice if you are a beginner. The packs are small. The burgundy is brown and the red is orange. If you want to make jewelry or decorations with it, you will need to purchase the cutting blades and roller separate from the description on Amazon. I might look for one with better colors.

👤The clay was very small. It's the size of bubble gum. I don't know what to do with this. It wouldn't be enough to buy 2. I paid $7 for a clay that is smaller than a sample. 👤I was not happy with this set. When it arrived, my 6yo was excited and spent her allowance money to buy it. I was disappointed to see how little clay comes with this. The size of a small eraser is the size of each color. The pieces were hard and dry. I tried to make it softer for her, but the clay wasn't moving at all. The parts were greasy. 👤Hello! The clay is bright and soft. The tools may be useful for beginners. It is less clay than what is in the listing. The blocks are supposed to be 11g. They all weigh under 10 lbs. The price is over a dollar per ounce for the whole collection. You can find a better price on similar clay products.

👤Disappointed. 1. The colors are off, but we got some tapes. 2. The storage plastic containers have nice kits in them. I got 4 boxes on sale thinking I got my money's worth since we didn't need any of the jewelry extras in the other kits and just needed clay. Where as a kit with 88 colors, but at 1120g total, it's $25 more than this with 4 boxes. The other set came in 4 boxes, which barely filled 2 sections of the 3 tier box. You get 1/3rd of the clay with the kits.

It's soft and sticky. Good luck if you want a sculpture that is free of fingerprints. When you can remove it from the surface, it will not change shape. I found it difficult to remove the baked pieces from the tile. Just be careful, it can be done. The directions are false. I baked a few pieces and they were soft and brittle even after they had cooled. If you want to use this production, cook at least 1/2 hour. Make sure you keep an eye on it. It can be less sturdy than the name brands, so using it for something that's going to sit there would be best. It's not too bad for a beginner to know about the pros and cons of it and it's probably cheaper. If you use it for very simple sculpts, it will make you less likely to get frustrated, and you will be prepared for the more expensive clay. Even though I like these colors, I'm probably going to stick with my own clay.

👤I was surprised when it arrived and it was tiny. The box is 6 x 5 x 2 1/2 and has the tools in it. Each bit of clay is about the same size. They would be the same size as Fimo clay. The thickness is disappointing. I added pictures to compare them.

👤A very cute kit. The bars are 3x1 and the box is 14x 5. The clay is nicely colored. I can't say how clean the colors are because I didn't mix any with this clay. The texture is very soft and sticky. It is not the same clay that I have used before. The bars are strong and not brittle after being baked for an hour. The thinner piece was able to bend enough to tear it, but the thicker piece did not. The thick did not bend or break. It isn't a clay for making canes or sculptures since it is so soft. It is great for small charms and journal covering. The clay allowed me to attach little balls to my test piece with no need for a bake or bond. I didn't put any pressure on the clay to attach it. I couldn't chip or pull the parts off after baking. That was impressive. It did hold the stamp even though it was soft. The clay is a nice surprise. I like it so far. The tools and other bits in the kit are not very good, but would be fine for kids. I like the box it came in and the colors are pretty.

👤I have been using this clay for a long time. The clay is like a magnet so make sure your work area is clean. The dust will be picked up by it. Before you start, wash your hands. Plus every now and then. Once you get it soft enough to sculpt with, you need a clean paper towel to lay your work on. The heat from your hand will make it soft. This isn't a bad thing about the Sclupey. All clays do the same thing. Buy a small oven with a tempeture setting. You can test to make sure the tempeture is right. Allow it to cool before touching. Tinfoil bakes all the way through, it uses less clay, and it makes a good armature. Don't use styrofoam when baking, it will expand and crack, and use glass eyes or sculpt your own, don't over bake or use the house oven. You don't want the fumes from the clay in your food.

👤I ordered some after working with sculpey at a friend's house. I ordered the regular sculpey when I should have gotten one of the other ones. You should read the descriptions of the different types to make sure you get what you want. If you are a beginner or a parent with kids, this is the perfect thing for you. If you want a more detailed version, you're probably going to want a harder one.

👤I've been using Sculpey Original in beige since December and I've never had a problem. I wanted to try the medium blend but couldn't find it on Amazon. They had technical issues. When I came back to Amazon, I had a hard time finding what I wanted, since they had an awesome selection at great prices. I found this 3 lbs of Original Sculpey in White for $30 and thought it was cheap. I paint my sculptures. It arrived today. I decided to make something special for my mom after I painted some sculptures. The clay didn't smell right. It had a funky chemical smell and it was tacky, soft and moist, even the plastic inside had white remnants. The clay was so sticky that the plastic wouldn't let go of it. The slabs wouldn't pull apart, but rather were "crumbled", which is weird because I didn't break or pull it. It's strange to have all these different textures for Sculpey. Soft clay is usually a good sign that it's fresh, but this was so soft that any pressure flattened it, as if there was no substance to it. I thought it needed to be worked on. I put the clay in the Sculpey clay roller. It almost ruined it. I was surprised that it stuck to the machine. I tried sculpting a small part to use later and it almost ruined my tools. I was unsure if I'd have to throw it away because it took a lot of stuff to clean it. I don't know what happened. I will not buy it again. It's terrible. I need to find something else. I hope no one else has the same experience.

They loved that they could make their own creations and bake them. The clay was easy to work with and it brought out the creativity in the kids. They were not arguing over the clay. My daughter likes to take this kit with her to her friend's house to make beautiful designs. Younger children may need adult assistance if they want to do it all by themselves.

👤The pros were not apparent to me until after the clay is baked. After baking, a stiff vinyl rubber bend that springs back to its original shape is surprisingly flexible. I think my clay creations are more internal strength, less brittle and less broken than any of the other ones. It is easier to carve the baked product with a knife or chisel than it is to grate it with a rasp. The cons are 1. It's difficult to work with hard, waxy clay. Reviewers complain about it being dry out of the package, but that's not what I'm talking about. No one should review the clay until it has been kneaded and conditioned. I have worked with this clay for hours and can say that it is softer than other clays I have used. 2. Once conditioned, sticky and shiny. If you try to separate the pieces, they will tear in other places, and it is great to have clay that sticks to itself. 3. There were very little smearing or Blending qualities. This is the largest con I have ever had. Good luck trying to blend together pieces. For me, there are better brands out there for detailed art. I would like to have this clay on hand for simple shapes like doll shoe soles or jewelry, but only at the price I got it for, $13/lb.
