Best Baking Essential for Kids

👤It is a cute mini-rolling pin, but not well made. There is a hole through the middle. The hole is not centered and is aimed off to the side, so trying to roll something out is bouncey, like an old highway with waves in it, with a slight up-down and left-right rocking motion. Normally, rolling pins are made on a lathe, cutting a roller around a center hole so the center is the actual center. Someone drilled a piece of wood and missed the center. To screw up this way, you need to hold it in one hand and the drill in the other. It would be safer to do it correctly. Very sloppy.

👤The rolling pin I use to make Roti's is well made and nice. A nice Belan that is free of defects in the wood is hard to come by, so this is a great substitute. The pin was very dry when compared to my old one. I bought mineral oil from Amazon and used it to seasoning it. The mineral was used to seasoning my cutting boards. The Indian Belan has handles that are similar to french rolling pin, but they spin free from the barrel, so it might be inconvenient if you don't know how to use free spinning handles. When working with a small pin, using a raised chakla helps keep fingers off the kitchen counter. The barrel length is too small for typical baking needs, but it's perfect for Roti and fits on a Chakla. There were no knots or defects in the wood. The picture shows a comparison of an Indian Belan and a Rolling PIN. The item is in the top of the pictures.

She can use the cake pan herself because it fits in the oven. The manufacturer should improve the recipe cards. The weakest link in the bundle is these cards. They reference the tools at the bundle, but they don't have an electric mixer. They are too complex for small kids to follow, with too many steps crammed onto a small card. The set needs simple recipes, reference only the tools provided, and pictures of the tools and ingredients to make it easy for kids to follow along. This may be too much to ask, but slightly healthier baking recipes would also be appreciated. The choice of utensils. The Silicone baking dish and cups are easy to clean. The wooden ones are cheap. I found a higher quality set on Amazon and am using them as a back up. The set could include an oven mitt. It's a good price, so I didn't mind buying an oven mitt to complete what we needed for baking. We had a lot of fun with it.

Every product I buy in a store has an inscription on it that says "stainless steel." They're either bumps or cuts through the shiny finish, or they're under the finish.

The size is easy to estimate, so it is not an issue. I didn't get these at a discount. I am sick of seeing those reviews.

👤Nice size bowls. The largest one is very large. I have only used it to mix 2 lbs of baked macaroni and cheese, with 6 cheeses, and it doesn't even get close to filling the bowl. I use it when I make cornbread dressing because I have to make 3 different versions, one for myself, my husband and our son, so it will come in handy when mixing the main ingredients. I only had it for a week or so and there are already marks on my favorite bowl. That is a bit disappointing. It's not a dealbreaker. 4.5 stars.
