Best Baking Glass Pans for Oven Large

👤We had a Pyrex casserole dish that was accidentally dropped and some of it was torn off. Since we didn't want our little one to get cut on the newly-sharpened surface or have it explode in the over, we felt that we should get a replacement. We decided to buy this rectangular casserole dish after looking at a lot of different options. Since receiving it, we've had a lot of casserole dishes, including potatoes, noodles, and rice. The size of this makes it easy to make meals that can last for a couple of days, but taste like they took hours to prepare. We store the lid upside down in order to minimize the height, since it's easy to serve and storage with a sturdy handle. The Pyrex dish has 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rice baked into it for 45 minutes. This method is great because you don't need to stir, just set it and forget it. 👤I use pyrex cookwear. I enjoy cooking with glass. I put the casserole dish in the oven and then put the meet on the hot glass to see it. Instead of going into the oven, it shattered apart all over the kitchen: glass all over the floor and all over the counter. I don't need this kind of quality. It worked well for general baking if temperatures rise and fall gradually, but it doesn't do as well as my other pyrex. I don't know if it's really pyrex.

👤Not the first, second or third to explode! It's amazing that Amazon continues to sell this. Our dinner's were wrecked when the oven had glass embedded in it. I wouldn't rate this as a 1. You have to give it in order to comment. I was reaching to take out the oven when it exploded.

👤I used it for the first time this weekend after receiving it. I was making food. I was excited to use the new dish with the old one. I used this dish to prepare the pasta. Both dishes were filled with sauce and cooked pasta, topped with mozzarella, and placed into the oven to melt the cheese without the cover. The dishes were in for less than a minute when we heard a loud boom and saw steam coming from the oven. We opened the oven and found that the dish had exploded, sending glass shards and baked tortellini all over the oven, top to bottom, and glass shards landed in the other Pyrex dish. My Pyrex baking dish has been used weekly for over twenty years without incident. I think this was not a case of thermal shock. The Pyrex dish should have suffered injuries if it had been misuse on my end. I called World Kitchen and was told that they were sending me a replacement for a dish that they believed was not up to par.

👤I returned this set for a new one already because of worse defects. The quality control and packaging here is so bad that one of the small storage/sauce bowls was cracked or chipped. The main cooking pan has a full scratch on the side and the small cooking pan has marks from having a cold mould. The first set I returned had many defects and was worse than this one. If you want a cheap Pyrex set, go to a store and get it for 60 dollars.

👤Customer service from the manufacturer was terrible. I contacted the manufacturer to get replacements for 2 of the bowls. Simple? They said it was not their problem, it was Amazon's. They don't want me to replace two little bowls because they don't want me to waste all of the resources sending back the entire set. It's ridiculous.

👤The reviews are correct about the damaged pieces. There is no padding or styrofoam to protect glassware because the set is not packaged well. There was a chip in the casserole lid and there were scratches on the bread pan. I assumed they would replace them, but it was a hassle. It took 3 weeks to reply and say that Amazon was responsible. They'll send the set again. It will have chips again. The set was nice. I was trying to support an American manufacturer and expected better than this damaged, poorly packaged glass and no assistance.

👤A set of cookware. This combo has all of the most popular cooking pieces. The advantage of glass cookware over metal cookware is that you don't have to worry about scratching the non stick finish. This set of cookware is good.

👤I bought one of these because of the reputation of pyrex. I was worried after I received the item because I found out most people don't know how to use glass baking dishes or follow instructions. I've never had anything explode in the oven or where I've been with glass bakeware. The instruction tells you not to thermally shock the glass, which is not a good idea for anyone over 10. People don't drink coffee out of glasses because of that. They need a handle that a mug offers. The pyrex could be used to make a sauce. The new pyrex isn't a big deal. If you remove your dish from the oven, it should go onto a dry cloth or cooling rack on your stove. Not onto a room temperature counter that will shock it or onto a pool of water on your counter that is room temp. I don't want to eat at your house if you don't add liquid to this dish before roasting meats, you should do that with all roasting meats. We owned our dish and it was dropped from the stove top on the second day we owned it. It did not break or crack. I've been using it for a while now and have no problems. It's not a sheet pan that you can abuse. Like Cast Iron cookware, glassware is similar. You have to know how to use it and take care of it.

👤I love the Pyrex brand and have several pieces of food storage ware, but this was my first piece of cookware. While I have a few casserole pans that are small enough to fit full sized noodles, they aren't large enough to fit full sized noodles. I had to add an extra step to cut the noodles in half. I was looking for a good quality large baking dish when it went down in price to 7 dollars. This was a steal, but it's worth the money even if it's only 20 dollars. I was looking for a Pyrex baking dish. It's a large size with 15 inches long, 10 inches wide and 2 inches deep. I was able to make a 6 layer lasagna and have enough depth for another layer or two. If you are feeding a crowd, this is the perfect baking dish to make casseroles, chicken parm, and other baked dishes. The risk of shattering glass bakeware is due to thermal shock, which occurs when the glass expands due to temperature change. Something is taught in high school. I'm not trying to be rude but it's easy to forget things you learned in high school chemistry. Pyrex glass is not impervious to thermal shock. There are two rules to follow. 1) If you want to place the bakeware on the counter, make sure the counter is not too cold and that the dish has reached room temperature. I remember my mother following those rules even after Pyrex changed their glass formula. I'm not saying you can't put it in the fridge or on the counter after it's out of the oven, but why would you want to put it in the oven? If it is properly handled and cared for, this Pyrex baking dish will be used to make large baked meals for years to come.

👤It's great when my husband is the "Chef" for the day because he enjoys cooking as much as I do. When I ordered this dish for him because he was unhappy with what he'd been using, he was enamored with the new dish because he can put everything in it and there is no danger of anything bubbling. The handles on each end make it easy to maneuver. It's heavy even when empty and full of food.

I need to use it immediately, so I'm taking a chance that it's not a flaw that will cause a future crack. I would return it. Something like this shouldn't happen. The lighting and white color make it hard to truly capture the dramatic nature of Flaw.

👤Poor quality pans are extremely dangerous. I have never put them on the countertop while it's hot. Yesterday when I picked up the pan to put away after it had been washed and dried, it cracked in half and sliced my arm open. The cut required a trip to the ER and 9 stitches. Purchasing a higher quality pan will save you money in the long run, and you will also avoid going to the emergency room. Don't buy if you're warned.

👤We had this for a while. It split in two while we couldn't tell. There wasn't a big temperature change. One minute it was in one piece and the next it was in the middle. This is the first time that something like this has happened to me, and I have a lot of other borosilicate glass cookware.

👤I was very excited to receive this product. The product was not faulty but there is an issue with the design. I wanted to have a way to store my pies and quiches in the fridge. This would have been like a Tupperware type thing. It wasn't. There are large vent holes on the lid. It's almost like a microwave plate cover. If they wanted to vent the lid just in case you wanted to re-warm your food, then you could store it in the fridge to keep it fresh without letting air in. I would have never wasted my time or money if I had known about the vents. Sorry OXO.

👤This was given to us for our wedding. We use it a lot. The glass shattered in my hand about a year after the wedding. I took it out of the cabinet and was going to use it for dinner. I did not drop it or anything like that. We trust Oxo so I bought another one and hope it was a mistake. Do be careful with it. If this one breaks on us, we will know it's just poor craftsmanship.

👤This was the most carefully packaged and wrapped item I have ever received. It was a sturdy, well protected dream because of the bubble wrap and tape. I liked the product before I saw it. The casserole is well designed. The lid fits perfectly. There is clear glass. It was the perfect size for my needs. I'm thinking about how great the bread pan will be. An unexpected use! The edges of the glass broke off. I had to have stitches after I was cut. Don't let the lid slip while putting it on!

All of the claims made by the seller are not duplicated on the wrapping of the casserole dish or anywhere else that comes with it. I hope it lives up to the advertising. The casserole dishes were used to cook meat and vegetables. All came out well. Put the dishes and covers in the dishwasher and it will come out new. Very pleased with them.

I didn't like handling hot cast roasters so I bought them to make sourdough bread. You can use them three ways. My mother had a Pyrex explosion. 👤The grocery store started selling chicken in plastic bags. What to do with the leftovers? I used a casserole dish a few times, but when I needed it for other meals, I usually used my container. I found this on Amazon. It does the trick despite being bigger than we needed. If it was a little smaller, I would be happy. I'm pretty sure it would fit two organic roasted/rotisserie chickens because of it's length. There wouldn't be enough room around it to cook, so it might be better to store it in the fridge. This glass is very thick. It's great to wash in the dishwasher. Will last forever.

If you want to clean, turn the rack upside down in the baking pan and soak in hot water. Clean the rack in the dishwasher. The baking pan should be washed out with hot soapy water.
