👤I'm returning the item because it isn't what I was told. The banner on the front said the powder was aluminum-free. The ingredients list for the product I got doesn't include aluminum. I've learned the hard way that if the product doesn't explicitly state something on the label, it isn't be trusted. I ordered this because I couldn't find the Rumford baking powder that said it was aluminum-free. I got fooled again. It's not true. I tried to return but was told it was not returnable. Amazon is complicit in false advertising and refuses to remedy the situation. I would understand if I had opened the product. Customer trust and loyalty are not promoted by this.

👤If you live in the states and you want to occasionally eat some custard without making it from scratch and consuming all those calories from cream and yolks, then you should put this in your cart and buy it. On a dull Sunday night when it was raining and you had a school project to hand in on Monday morning and dinner was all watery and boring, you'll get all emotional, but then mum brought out a steam pud and custard. Y'know?

👤I bought this product because I wanted to. Corner Gas is a Canadian TV show. They were eating "Nanaimo-style" bars. I searched for the recipe after watching the episode. It was made from this mysterious powder. I had to buy it. It is a great product. It makes great "Nanaimo-style" bars, but it also makes a great custard pudding. I hope you did, you have gotten to the end of the review. It's a great product and you can try it.

👤I can have it whenever I want. We used to love snow pie made by my great grand. It was the most amazing thing to a 5 year old, she'd make her own custard. I wanted to make popovers with custard in them. This is very good. I will keep it in stock. If you are a first timer like me, you should mix the milk with the sugar and put it in the saucepan on the stove. Put the pan on the stove after the powder mixture is smooth and well blended. I like the smooth and creamy texture of my custard. It takes about 3 minutes to start whisking, just keep whisking until you get the way you want. I used whole milk. There is 2 heaped of custard powder. It took about 10 minutes from the time that the sugar was cooked to the time that the milk was cooked. When I tried a small amount. There was 2 ounces of powder. It was too sweet.

👤It is so plain, it doesn't even taste like vanilla, so it is not a good idea to follow the directions on the back. Just a little bit of milk. I think this item is better in a recipe that adds special flavors to it. The pudding texture was a bit runny after being chilled overnight. I covered the custard with a wax paper to prevent a film from forming, but that may have caused the water build-up. I tried to make a taiyaki filling out of this custard, but it was a mess and I had to stop breading. If you're going to use the custard as a filling, you should use a recipe that will solidify the custard enough. I only give this two stars so that people who are looking for more of an "instant" dessert will notice this review and look elsewhere. I'm sure it's fine for baking with the right recipe.

👤I have spent many hours making both the stirred and baked versions of custard. Bird's Custard powder is a really good flavor of soft/stirred custard. I have never had a problem with the stirred variety. I hope other Americans like it as I do. I use 3 to 4 ounces of powder instead of 2 ounces because I like thicker custard and prefer it over the recipe makes. I use less sugar. Bird's allows flexibility in thickness and results that are excellent.

A lot of over the counter cold and flu meds contain this ingredient. We have been making a cocktail of half a packet of lemon drink, baking soda, and organic pure vitamins C and D, as well as 4 ounces of clean water. It has a salty taste.

The combination of 1 heaping of soda with 1 heaping cup of salt in the hottest water you can handle will naturally cleanse the body. 👤I can't eat wheat products because I am a celiac. My brothers were all diagnosed with it and my dad probably had it. Some people have it. I don't show up for blood work, but I will tell you if I eat wheat/gluten. All my pain and ache will be tripled by three. That is really bad when you have joint diseases. All large joints have lost the cushion they used to have, and the pop and grind across what used to be a smooth motion. There are items in cooking that are free of wheat. You wouldn't believe that wheat showed up. It's in things you wouldn't expect. You think, "Oh is that the reason my hands didn't work the next morning?" My comb wouldn't stay in my hand. Anyone with celiac knows to check for wheat in weird places. I don't say to check everything, but I'm cooking supplies.

👤I was happy to find this baking powder. I try to use good, natural ingredients when baking and so I was happy that this one didn't have any bad ingredients. My favorite biscuit recipe is 2 cups organic Einkorn flour, powdered erythritol or monk fruit ext, ground chia seeds, baking powder, salt, and cold butter. Put all dry ingredients in a bowl and bake them in the oven. Add the butter that is very cold. I shred the butter with a cheese shredder to keep it from clumping and to make it easier to mix. I add the cold milk. The dough ball should be on the paper. Knead dough and fold flour. I fold dough over about 5 times. Then use a round object to cut out biscuits. Place the pan on the paper. I put them close together to help them rise. If you want, you can add butter on top of the biscuits. It takes about 15 minutes to bake. I use the baking powder for my homemade dumplings in Chicken Gnocchi Soup. If you would like to make your own dumplings, I've included the recipe below. It's the perfect soup to enjoy on a chilly evening. Next, add the butter and stir with a fork. The dough ball will form when the milk is added and kneaded. Dust the mixture with flour if it's too sticky. I scoop out the little balls with the measuring spoon. Drop each small dumpling into a bowl of soup. Don't stir the dumplings. After all the dumplings have been added into the soup, put the lid on and let it heat up for 15 minutes. Stir and serve after removing the lid. Enjoy! I make a larger bowl of soup when I double the portion. This review will help you.

👤Oh, my gosh! This product is bad for pancakes and homemade breads. I have never used it until I bought this container of dry malt. Had never put malt in bread or pancakes. Both have turned out to be wonderful and improved old recipes. No one wanted syrup or jam on the pancakes, so I made them. The whole batches was eaten with butter. It was totally sinful. My kitchen will never be the same without this ingredient. You will not be disappointed if you recommend it to all who have never tried it.

👤I use this to help my sourdough breads. It's worked well. I use anywhere from 1 to 2 grams per loaf these days, and I think it helps the flavour and helps the process of making bread. I bake about two loaves of bread a week and have found that using more than 2 grams of flour can result in a gummy crust to your bread. If you're looking at this product with sourdough baking in mind, I recommend you look into some citric acid as well, it helps boost the sour zip in your breads as well! If you're interested, I use a small amount for each loaf.

I have been able to make even better pizza's now that the old pictures have been removed. I've come a long way since then, the malt powder allows you to get a beautiful golden brown crust and great crust flavor. The bottom of the crust can get darker and crispier as a result. The photos do the product justice.
