I always want the best, so if a 1/2 steel is good, then the 3/8" must be twice as good, and perhaps it is. It's so heavy that it takes two people to open and close the oven, or risk breaking the oven, and I'm afraid that it's going to break my oven rack. That's how it feels. If you only use your oven for pizza, I would recommend a lighter model because you can't leave it in your oven. If you don't believe me, go find a 25 pound barbell and put it on your oven rack and see if you can handle the weight.

When done, rinse off the remaining corn meal. 3. You can heat in the oven for 30 minutes. When frozen pizza is at 400 degrees, turn down to 425. Check every few minutes. This stone is the best one. You will have a stained stone if you let the topping spill over. Place frozen pizza on top of the frozen corn meal and cook for time on package.

👤I can't say enough good things about this stone. I had to go back to look at this stone again when I wanted to buy a second one. The stone is almost 6 years old and will be hard to replace. It will smell and smoke in the beginning. It's not enough to use it a dozen times to get a stone that's seasoned enough to be used in your oven, grill, fireplace, etc. It will be black and charred over time and use. It could take 50 times or more. This is known as seasoned. I put mine in the oven for many hours at a time until it was no longer porous after I oiled it. You will feel this by running your hand over the top. This provides a slick surface that you can slide pizza, breads, and other items from. The more you use it, the better. After use, and it has cooled, simply remove the stuck food with a straight edge spatula and rinse under a bit of water. Run a thin coat of cooking oil over the entire surface after towel dry. There is no soap. It's as slick as a ceramic plate. It almost looks like it's glazed. If you have the time and patience, you will be able to make great food. Remember, patience!

I found that setting my oven at a high temperature and heating it for 30 minutes immediately gave me a crisp taste when the dough hits the stone. This stone has a nice crisp base to it. This stone makes me feel like a pizza pro most of the time, because I'm an amatuer when it comes to cooking. I botch my crust. There is a rectangular version. I might have to buy one of those to have on hand in case I misplace this one. There is one last note. I had a stone that gave off an awful smell and I thought it would go away. I threw that stone after it didn't work. I was worried about buying another stone and dealing with odors again. This one did not give off a smell. I didn't think of that until I wrote this review. This pizza stone is very good.

I purchased the stone because of the great reviews and the data indicating that it could be used over direct heat on the BBQ. The recipe was the same as the crispest I have ever produced. The stone makes a difference. I will not be making pizza for a while as I made 4 pizzas today and two are going into the freezer. The photo says it all. It was great...
