My first one got destroyed when I sliced some pastry strips on it and now have to transfer rolled dough to a cutting board which can be a bit of a problem. It's a good tool for bakers.

Because it's so light and flimsy, it moves all over the place, and as the gluten started to form in my dough, it did start to stick there! You can't just throw it in the dishwasher because it's so thin. It was more difficult to clean by hand. I'm most likely tossing this in the trash.

👤I've wanted to do sourdough for a long time. I put it off a few times because my mother had failed at it and I witnessed it. I decided it was the perfect time to not buy bread because of the plague. For a baker to try Sourdough Bread for the first time? This is perfect! I was a little worried about the size of the baskets when I first saw them, but they're perfect for making loaves that most sourdough recipes call for. The two Bannetons looked nice and the dough was easy to make with no need to clean or worry about the rings on them. The two banneton covers came with me, but I haven't used them yet because the bannetons themselves work just fine. I haven't been abusing the Bannetons, but they seem durable. I use a plastic scraper to get the dough out of the bowl and onto the counter to start kneading, and the metal scraper is the perfect strength to use on the counter. The plastic scraper is for getting the banneton out, but I haven't needed to use it for that at all. So far, the lame has worked well. I've played with the blade, but I haven't had to change it yet. The leather cover is nice, and it looks easy to replace. The curved blade is odd to cut straight lines with, but I have never used a lame before, so I don't know if that's a brand specific thing or what all lame's look like. The handle feels good in the hand, either way. It's a great kit, with everything, but the jar for the starter, that you need to get started on sourdough bread. Is there better quality ones out there? I'm sure you can find better quality pieces. But honestly? For a first time sourdough baker, they are all good quality, but they aren't sure what style/feel they prefer yet. The kit is perfect and has everything. They need to start. I think my mother regrets buying a different banneton that didn't include everything. I would have referred others to this.

👤Really disappointed. The bench scraper is laser etched and the bowl scraper is Silicone wrapped metal, but the rattan sucks. There is a lot of splintering inside. The couche is made of low quality linen. I would have liked to have ordered everything separately and paid for the banneton in the $30-40 range. I think it's worth having my first banneton with all the other gear.

When I looked at my package again, I realized that the blades were in the same box as the scoring tool, but all the way down at the bottom. I threw them out accidentally. I buy it from bread bosses. The cover is on and it looks ok. Everyone uses theirs without a cover to get that outline from the bannetons. I also wanted that. The basket is not covered and it looks like trash. You can see the cracks that aren't mended with splinters. The dough scraper is cheap and flimsy. I was sad. I was going to write a review, but I saw the little cards the brand sends. The guy is Danny. I sent him photos of what it looked like and he didn't like it. I wanted what I was paid for. It is not cheap. The guy said that I could get a replacement or refund. Yes. It's nice over email. The questions were sort of unfitting. Not bad but not what I expected. He says he will send a replacement set. It has been over a week since I received my replacement and there has been no word or mail.

👤I have never used a banneton before, so this has been a learning experience. Unless you're trying to not have a nice pattern in your dough, you don't need the cloth cover. The seam side goes up after the first proof that the yeast is active. If you want the banneton to stick better, mist it lightly and then drop it in your shaped dough. As soon as the banneton 2nd stage proof starts, make sure your oven and baking stone are ready to bake. After the 2nd rise is over, you can dump the dough onto a sheet of foil or paper and razor it. The finished dough can be easily released from the banneton if you sprinkle enough semolina. You can cover your proofed dough with a deep dish roasting pan or aluminum pan if you transfer the aluminum foil right to the baking stone. The first 20 minutes of the bake are kept in the natural steam by using a dutch oven. Remove the pan and allow the crust to develop. The banneton should be dry and brush out the inside with a toothbrush. The banneton is perfect for the next use. Happy baking!

👤The banneton I ordered was 9 inches in diameter and came in perfect condition. Danny with Bread Bosses sent an e-mail to me the next day. His e-mail said that the orange scraper in the banneton set may have a slight problem, but nothing Bread Bosses can't fix. The Bread Bosses logo can peel off the orange scraper and they are offering a free replacement. Danny responded within hours that a replacement scraper would arrive within a week. I am very impressed with the customer service of Bread Bosses and their response to an issue with the dough scraper. I received an e-mail from Bread Bosses with video instructions on how to use the banneton and an e-book on how to make a sourdough starter. These bonuses were really nice.

It wouldn't fall down. After a few uses, it was ready to be thrown away. It was a disappointment. The baking mat is perfect. It is non-slip and has a reasonable price. Go for it! You will be happy you did.

The boule fell out of the uncovered bowl after I started to flour it heavily. The bread vent requires bakers to place the blade at an angle, so therazorblade holder did not work for me. The action is hard because of the handled lame and blade.

This is the size of a man's shoe, I guess, as giant is relative. It is a child size form. It's crazy. The photo is very deceptive, but maybe I should have read the measurements. The bread bag was missing. The set would have gone into the trash if I had kept it. Scraper is ok, but not good enough to work in a bowl. Buy something else if you pass this by. This is abstract and weird. My return has been arranged. Thank goodness for the return policy of Amazon.

👤The bannetons are good. For the price, it is not a big deal that they have peeled in random areas. I have used them without the cloth. If you have a spray bottle and a banneton, you will be good. It will be easier to come off later. When cleaning it rinse it off and leave it on the stove with the oven on so the water can run off and it will look new. After a few days, the lame is easily rusted. If you have small rolls of bread, the bread bag can be useful.

I live in France, but I don't think the French bakeries or the French stuff which do the best baguettes are the best. The French colons left the country running as fast as they could, but fortunately not without leaving behind the tradition baguette recipe. Some bakeries around that dare to call themselves French bakeries and make people pay a mountain for terrible bread should instead ask their Asian friends for a copy of their recipe. If you want to make a recipe that is interesting, you will need 2 hours to make it, and you will need 500gr flour, 10 gr dry yeast, 10 gr salt, and 300 g water. You can mix activated and dry yeast together if you want, but first you need to pour your dry yeast, sugar or honey, and a spoon of flour into a little recipient. Add a little bit of water and blend it well.
