Best Baking Tools and Accessories for Cookies

👤It works on buttercream. You can use these tools to make buttercream cold. I used a diamond for this cake. I put a bowl of hot water in a dried towel and pressed it into a cake. I use a style of buttercream called swiss meringue. It works great and saves me a lot of time. I used to cut the buttercream with a knife. This is very easy.

👤This is a great set for the price. I'm not sure if I'll ever use some of them, but it's still a great deal. The cake in this photo is large. It would have been nice to have more flexibility in the imprinter, because curves are difficult. This is a plastic. The price couldn't be so good for that. I know a lot of people who do it, but they are more skilled than I am, because that technique becomes a stretched-out mess for me. After covering, I do the impressions. I realized it was easier to use the ruler edge to extend the lines on flatter areas than it was to use the embosser. If you look closely, you'll see that the diamonds aren't uniform, but I don't think anyone will notice, and this wouldn't be an issue for round or rectangular cakes. I used a ruler edge to deepen the lines and a quilting tool only if you want stitches. I used a star tool to give the fullness. It's not necessary to use a slightly darker shade of dust if you're short on time.

👤Dust the tools to avoid them sticking, it's easy to use on rolled fondant. It's easy for me to do highly detailed cookies without a lot of time.

👤The first thing I noticed was that the tool caddy was very cheap. The sturdy closes seem to be crooked, and the small roller is not what I was expecting. I like the Silicone mat that comes with it and the piping bags that hold up. I think it's a good beginners set.

I take it with me whenever I go to clases because it has everything I need to know about and work with in some of my classes. I love the blue piping bags, they are still holding on strong after a lot of use. The carrying case is sturdy, although the handle is questionable, and the fact that it hasn't broken off is a good sign.

👤I only used this once. I made sure there was no flour between the mat and the counter top. Squeaky clean. The mat slid over the counter top. No traction at all! I finished working with the dough on the counter top after tossing it aside. I was hoping that this would work because I hate cleaning dough and flour out of the grout, but I would rather clean the grout with this mat. It was nearly impossible to work the dough on the mat. I returned it. Don't spend your money on this.

👤It is pretty. But useless now. The mat was stuck together. I was not surprised. I put it in cold water and slowly worked it apart over the course of a couple of hours. There was a flaw in the mat that made it not separate as the first 98% had done. Rip! If I cut it in half, what are the mini-mats? It was not worth the trouble to return for $13. I like the brown color. I requested a return and replacement from Amazon. Can you guess? There is a The replacement was ripped as I tried to pull it apart. I can't recommend this product.

👤Wow! I was surprised when I bought this kit last minute for my first attempt at a tier wedding cake. The items inside the packaging were in good shape despite being a little beat up. The kit allowed me to create a masterpiece despite the fact that the cake leveler did not work as I needed it to, but it did allow me to create a masterpiece. It's a good investment for a beginner.

👤I don't know how they fit all the stuff into this box, but once you open it, there's no way to put them back in the box for storage. Before you open, have a plan. The products are mediocre in quality, like you bought them from the dollar store. It is still an ok value for all the things you get, especially if you will use every single item in there. If you don't want to use all the items in there, then it's better to just buy them individually and get better color coordinated tools. This would be a great gift for your niece who is 13 to 17 years old. There are a lot of things that are better quality and cheaper at Ross/Marshall's or Fred Meyer. 👤I didn't realize how easy it is to cut dough, it works great for kneading bread, rolling out dough, and adding to my kitchen tools. My first one got destroyed when I sliced some pastry strips on it and now have to transfer rolled dough to a cutting board which can be a bit of a problem. It's a good tool for bakers.

Because it's so light and flimsy, it moves all over the place, and as the gluten started to form in my dough, it did start to stick there! You can't just throw it in the dishwasher because it's so thin. It was more difficult to clean by hand. I'm most likely tossing this in the trash.

It flaps and flour goes everywhere if it is floured. I love baking and this has taken the joy out of it. Do not buy this product.

👤The baking mats are great. The quality is excellent and the price is good. I use them for everything in the oven. You name it, it's from oven pizzas. I love that they help protect my baking sheets by helping food slide off the non stick surface. It is also very convenient to just wipe them clean or put them in the top shelf of the dishwasher. You can cut off 1/3 of the paper towel roll to use as a holder, and just roll up the mats and slip inside the ring for easy storage of the mats in a drawer. I highly recommend them. We use these mats almost daily and I have had them for almost a year. They look brand new. I have not had any issues with mats becoming worn or staining. I use them to cook most items at up to 450 degrees but have not had any issues with them so far. I drape them over my cups in the top rack of the dishwasher and then when dry roll them up and slip a napkin ring or rings cut from and empty paper towel roll into a drawer so they fit easily into a drawer. These things are fantastic and have paid for themselves many times over in the superior non stick surface, ease of clean up and the cost of parchment paper and or aluminum foil I used prior to discovering them.

👤I spoke with an Amazon customer service representative and was told that they would escalate the issue to have it addressed and possibly amend the product review. I am surprised that they didn't offer a refund on the product, but I think the most important thing is to see if they address the fire and safety issue at its root. There is an update on 11/11/18. One reviewer stated that these are not good for use above 400 degrees F. The mat was smoking when I opened the oven after putting it in the oven. This was the mat itself, no oils or anything applied to it. I changed my review to one star and will be requesting a refund from Amazon. This is a danger. I've been trying to reduce my carbon footprint so I was looking for an eco-friendly alternative to aluminum foil to line my baking sheets. The mats were the ticket. They fit perfectly on my baking trays. These are even better than aluminum foil because I don't have to use oil to make them non-stick! I can cook even better. I will recommend this to my friends.

👤Fruits and veggies are boring. An apple is shaped like a penguin. My kids love the shape cutter, it is a surprise to see what their lunch will look like. I think it makes them happy. The cutters come in a variety of shapes and are a bit sharp. They take a bit of time. It would be much easier to get an apple in the bag, but it would be much more boring than a dog's bones. I don't think these cutters are good at cutting, some may take a little more force. They are with the kids.
