👤This has been perfect for me so far, I had mine take a small tumble, but it was fine. The air flow adjustment on the barrel is my only concern. It turns right to give you a flame and left to give you a blue flame. I have to open my control for a hot flame. If I need more air flow, I can't since I'm already maxed out.

👤When I buy a Chinese torch, I have no illusions about what I am buying. I have owned this model many times. The Chinese model is my favorite, it has the best feel in the hand. They last 6-9 months with a lot of use. They are more reliable than the flow regulation. Most torches wear out first when starters wear out. If you fill it up every night and find it empty the next day, it can get expensive, which is why this model has a tendency to develop a butane leak. The unit I received was the worst leak I have ever encountered. I filled it to full, lit it to set the gas flow, and it leaked the entire tank when I was ready to use it for the first time. I filled it all the way up again. It was empty the next time I reached for it, after I used it one time. I am assuming it was factory defects or damaged when it was put into the elaborate packaging this company uses.

👤When buying a torch, what to look for is 1. A hand guard is also used to prevent accidental use. 2. The fuel gauge is hard enough to fill. 3. There is a flame knob. 4. Don't pay more. There are disadvantages. The instructions on the description page are better than what is in the box. 1. If you want to drain the fuel and air compression from the torch, you can press the refill valve with a screwdriver. I can't see why this should be done during every refill. 2. The butane can and nozzle should be held with the upside down torch. Press butane gently down for five seconds and then repeat. I can't see the butane level in bright lighting. A poor fit is when it doesn't want to take more and can sometimes happen after half filled. This is the biggest problem I have. The fuel canister should not be pumped while fueling. 3. It's best to wait a few minutes for gas to warm up before using. You have to wait 5 seconds before trying again if you are like stupid me, and you have to release the switch before the locktrigger to relight. This is the second biggest problem with the device. Again, mostly with stupid me. There is an adjustment knob at the bottom. There was no mention of it. 4. Wait 5 minutes between uses. Don't refill when it's hot. The full tank is supposed to last 60 minutes, but it only lasts 8 minutes at the highest setting, which is enough for three steaks. I can live with this. It's still the best buy because better would cost more. Only use the best butane. Don't use tip plastic too close to the food because it can affect delivery of butane to the torch tip. Spending a lot more money would cure the problem. You should always wear glasses if you use a fireproof surface. It's also useful for plumbing, jewelry, art, or just lighting a cigar. It's great for making caramelizing sugar, melting cheese or roasting vegetables. My most common use is to create maillard effect on steaks. I find torched sous vide steak to be better than pan fried or grilled due to the lack of burn flavor, and it can be cooked simply by adding hot water to a beer cooler. The hotter is better. The best alternative is a chimney grill starter. There is no clear winner between the two flavors. This is not hard. This can do more. I bought this. I'm happy.

👤The torch was perfectly fine once it was filled with butane. Getting it filled with butane was frustrating. I bought a butane can from Target and thought it would be fine. The torch wouldn't fit the tip of the can. The bottom of the torch is not compatible with common butane refill cans because of its shape. I went to a hardware store and asked the attendant to put a different brand of butane in front of me to make sure I wasn't spending more money. It worked. I bought a brand that I want you to know what works. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against using butane, but I want you to have it filled with it before you use it. The torch works perfectly and I am not sure if that is the fault of the torch or the incompatible can.

👤Customer service was great. They tracked me down and sent me a replacement for my bad review. This one worked well. Quality company that supports their products. I got a faulty 1 for the first time and they made it right. Don't buy a piece of junk. I filled it with Butane and waited 10 minutes. It was hard to light and it tried to light me on fire. As soon as you point the flame down, the torch goes right to your hand. It's not a real torch flame, it's a big lighter flame. I have used torches that have a more powerful flame.

👤They did the job when I used them. The high intensity is good for torching steak, but the medium intensity is better for creme brulee. Having the fire set at a low setting puts out the fire. The flame always goes out within a minute when I try to torch the sugar. The medium fire burned some of the sugar while I was trying to get the edges. The low flame going out often made it hard to lock the flame. I was not sure if the flame was locked on or not. If you kept it on medium, it would be solved. If you see the flame and it won't go out, be careful because you are leaking propane into the air. I think if you know what you're doing, it's easy, but it was my first time and some of the propane leaked out of the torch when it was full. At least they were gone? I put it on a paper towel in case. If you just want to make dessert or torch a few things, I recommend this. It's a good thing.

No more eyebrows. I was wearing glasses and methane burns off fast. This wasn't the torch's fault, it was mine. It's a good torch for the price. The literature was complete and should be read first.

It took half of the bottle to torch because the refill gas is 75ml, which is the same distance from the index finger to the thumb. If you are going to use a lot of gas, I recommend ordering more than one refill.

The flame is weak compared to my other one. The other one was larger but this one shows a nice big flame. The Sondiko pink and silver one is the same size as the one I bought but it has a lower flame and is less strong. It didn't come with the extra tools that were advertised. I can't say for sure if this is a better product than the one I have never used, but it definitely fits my needs. There are instructions on the back of the box. I would like to know how much butane to use. I watched a video on You Tube and it said you can feel the full weight of it by the handle. The handle on this model is either made of or encased in acrylic. I didn't feel a temperature difference. I had to guess. It's easy to use, light weight and fits in my hand. One reviewer pointed out that this does produce a full on fireball, so do not use it on a high setting. Be extra careful, you aren't near anything that could be dangerous. The lever is set between the + and - on the slide. It would be a good idea to start it on the lowest setting. The slide moves very quickly and has no resistance. I would prefer more tension on the control, but now that I've used it, I know to be very gentle with the lever. A nice small rubber baster and a small rubber spatula were enclosed. I bought this for an art project. It was the first time it was used to make smores. It worked well. I was able to toast my marshmallows. I think this was a good purchase.

👤The lighter works well and does what it is supposed to. The lever at the front of the lighter determines how much butane is used, so having the lever all the way to the + produces a big flame. The appearance of the lighter was one of the issues that came to me. The lighter is out of the box and shows signs of wear. The tip of the lighter seems to use plastic material, which is one of my main issues. The inside of the plastic where the flame is produced is warped/melted, but I am not sure if it happened when I used the lighter or how it came. 👤If you are a jeweler, don't buy this torch. It is fine for applications that do not require control. It's awkward to handle a situation with no control button because thetrigger is on the top. The flame is not consistent. It 800-273-3217 If you had it at the lowest setting, it wouldn't stay on for the time stated. I get about three minutes of consistency on a larger solder, but then it goes cold. It was annoying to have to stop and re-warm the pieces. Even with low setting, the fire scale is abundant with many different formulas of boric. I don't recommend it if you need a torch for large pieces, like cuffs. I tried all the applications for a smith, but it was too hot. The flame is large. I think it would be good for welding. Maybe applications for the kitchen. It may not stay on for long enough to torch metal clay. I don't recommend soldering or gold work. If I want reticulation in my designs, I will keep it around. I should have saved the money and gotten a big shot.

👤The butane suggested with the lighter is not standard to use with the refilling port. I wasted an entire bottle trying to refill it after buying 3 cans. It won't spray butane all over the place. If they chose to use a port that won't work with Ronson cans, the product should have included an accessory. There is no way to tell if the lighter has butane in it. There should have been a window port to let the user know. If it came with a standard port, I would suggest this, but it's useless if you can't refill it because butane will spray all over, and it's dangerous to attempt to refill it. I don't recommend this product because it would have been an easy fix.

👤The fuel flow control is not easy to use. I can place it on low. It will either ignite with a long torch flame or not at all. It is very inconsistent in how it ignites the torch. The flow control was set to extreme. If you set the flow setting in the middle, the torch will ignite most of the time, and you can adjust the flame after it ignites. I use this torch to install heat shrink tubing in automotive wiring. I keep it with my portable soldering setup in a DeWalt 10 bin storage case. I love that the torch has a fluid-level sight gauge and a safety lock that works well when I store it away, but can be removed when I use it throughout the day to keep my sanity. I only use high quality 99% pure or 14x refined butane fuel from either Colibri or Vector brands to make sure that my torch will last a long time. If you use cheaper butane from a big box store or gas station, you will be able to get x3 butane. You will likely have to buy a new torch once it gets gummed up. Most of your struggles will be eliminated if you use high quality butane and include those plastic refill that this torch included. I don't think it's necessary to use a plastic refill with this torch, if you're using poor quality butane that doesn't have a longer refill nozzle. I know how important it is to use high quality butane, because I have used butane soldering irons. It doesn't mean anything if it's either 99% pure refined or more than x3. Stay away from the butane if it doesn't state these details. The smallest torch flame is about 1 inch in length and 2.5 inches at max flow. I mostly use it at the lower flow settings for my work, but it's nice to see that the flame has more than enough upper range for other purposes. The torch is light and made mostly of plastic with an aluminum cylinder grip that protects the butane tank. If you want it to be reliable, I would not drop it on a concrete floor. I have a butane soldering iron/torch from Lexivon that has a butane tank made from aluminum with a rubber overgrip that feels more durable in my hand and has a more consistent ignition and butane flow control, but has a frustrating safety lock that gets annoying real quick. If you want to do heatshrink work, use the Sondiko torch only, and if you want to do soldering work, use the battery operated pine64 pinecil. My Lexivon butane soldering iron is reserved for a backup solution.

👤I like pouring painting with paints. The paint can bubble for those that do this type of art. The blow torch was perfect to pop the bubbles. It has a fuel level on the front to prevent over filling it. It comes with tips for filling up the torch. It was nicely built. I dropped it already and it still works.
