Best Baking Weights Scale

👤It worked out great. I loved it. That lasted two weeks. After two weeks, it broke and is useless. I left a negative review because there was no way to return it. The seller contacted me and asked me to remove my review. He explained that he switched manufacturers because of the issues with the scales. He seemed genuine. The review was removed 9 days ago. I contacted him twice but didn't see a refund. He gets a review again. The product is a bad one and comes from a seller who doesn't hold up his word.

English muffin and Black Canyon sourdough breads were made using the Ozeri Pronto food scale. The English muffin bread was broken into two loaves and the Black Canyon bread was broken into six parts. I made three loaves using our new cooker.

It worked well for a while, then it started showing negative weight on the scale a few seconds after you turned it on, and for as long as you wanted. If you zero it out, it just does the same thing over and over again, so you can't trust what it says when you actually start weighing something. Shame on me for not checking the reviews before buying, I'm not the first person to have this issue with this scale.

The scale is a single piece. If something spills on the round top, you just wipe it. You have to wipe the scale to make sure you can't just put it in the dishwasher. There are no nooks or crevices that are hard to get spills out. The round top where you weigh things has a chrome finish that looks and feels like something I wouldn't want to put food directly on. What is the finish of the paint? I asked the manufacturer if there was any lead in the paint. But... I wouldn't put food on the scale. I decided not to buy the add-on for the scale because the manufacturer pointed me to it. I Tare function is convenient. I don't use it often, but I do use it to weigh the container I'm using for food, and then subtract it from my head. If you want to see the weight of the food on the scale, put whatever empty container you don't want included in the weight of the food on it. You can just add the food that you want to weigh into the container. If you want to add something to the container, you can take it off and put it back on the scale. Click on the tare button again if you want to tell the scale to stop using the tare. If you turn the scale off and have something on the scale, the scale will subtract the weight from the scale. When you turn it on, you want to not have anything on the scale.

👤I've used it for many things. I have diabetes and it helps me to weigh certain foods to determine their nutrition characteristics. I've used it to determine the amount of water in odd containers. I used it to determine the weight of the battery operated leaf-blower my wife uses on our porches. She likes the light weight of this one and it needs to be replaced. I got the black one. It fits on top of the microwave. It wouldn't be known unless one made a concerted look. I just need to wipe it now and then, because I haven't wet the whole thing. The worst culprit is fingerprints. I can say that it gives consistent readings, even though I haven't tested for accuracy per se. The tare function and the button to change units of measure work well together. It is very convenient. I can read the numbers with my eyes. It seems sturdy. The auto shut off in 90 seconds. I haven't had it shut off in the middle of anything I've been doing. I can say that I can positively comment on accuracy after using this for a while. The readings I get are very consistent with what I get when I weigh meat at the butcher shop. Thumbs up for accuracy. I thought it would be helpful.

You have to realize that a scale that can weigh anything from 1 gram to 22 lbs cannot possibly be accurate for 1 gram or more. The measurement mechanics need a little runway to start working, so no scale works accurately at its lower limit. A high-powered race car built for 300 mph cannot operate at 0.1 mpg when it's scaled. Ditto for this scale. If you add a weight to it, it can read down to 1 gram. I hit TARE to zero the scale after adding a small object weighing 20 grams. I added a 1 gram lab weight and it read 1 gram. There were comments about the sensitivity across the surface. It will. It is not a $1,000 scale. When operating above its lower scale end, the unevenly distributedness disappears. How often do you measure something of little weight without a container? One usually uses a container or cup. I did a few un-tared weight tests and it was always within 2g. There is a Adding a container and using TARE to zero, it was measured from 1g. This scale is not the one you should use if you plan on making very light weights like mixing powders of a few grams or less. A low cost balance beam scale will set you back more than $100. This is a good scale for cooking. It comes with a LIFETIME warranty. I only took off one star because of the lack of information, the extremely minimal manual, and some misleading promotional videos. What more can you expect from such a low cost? I will be testing their other products when I get a hold of them.

👤I received this as part of the Greater Goods promotion. I wanted to see what the scale was like. I already own a AmoVee Digital Kitchen Food Scale, so I had something to compare it to. The scale has a shallow bowl that works well. It has a slightly larger footprint on the counter than the AmoVee Digital Kitchen Food Scale. I put the freezer bag into the bowl, rather than weigh it in a different bowl and transfer it to the freezer bag, because I usually weigh it in the freezer. The AmoVee Digital Kitchen Food Scale only weighed ounces or grams. I had to divide ounces by 16. The scale measures ounces, pounds, and grams. They both weigh the product exactly the same. The AmoVee Digital Kitchen Food Scale works well, but not measuring pounds, and not being able to stand a freezer bag on it. I'm giving it to someone else. The scale gives me metrics in pounds and a shallow bowl. The scales measure the same.

The bowl is handy for dry measurements and the scale is upside down when not in use. I received a manufacturer's rebate for answering some research questions about the scale I bought. GG products have been purchased by me in the past and all of them are still in use. The company is behind its products and partners with charities to make lives better.

👤This scale is amazing! I don't think it's a good idea to measure the weight of food ingredients. I bought it for the purpose of weighing our puppies after they are born. The puppy will weigh the same weight each time I take it back to back. I like that I can weigh the puppy as it gets older and bigger, because I can zero out say a bowel. It makes it easier to weigh puppies. The scale is much more accurate and cheaper than regular puppy or infant scales. You will love this scale if you are weighing food or four legged friends.

There is a I have received daily+emails from the vendor and they are offering a $50 bribe to remove the negative review. If they are not allowed to be read, what good are reviews? I use mine to measure cat food. It is important to measure to the gram accurately. The scale does not do that. It takes a long time to register a change as I am adding portions and it doesn't zero out without hitting the button multiple times. I have to restart it to start over. I get different readings if I take a plate off and put it back on. It is beyond frustrating and everything one would not want to happen in a kitchen scale. The precision ends there. I will send it back.

My scale is turned on/off at least 25 times a day. When you go by weight, your recipes come out great. My criteria for a kitchen scale is that buttons and display must be protected from spills. The scale has no protection. You can see gaps around the buttons by looking closely at the pictures. The buttons are plasticy compared to all my previous scales. The exposed buttons and display were the main deal-breaker for me. Glass tops are not allowed, only durable plastic or STAINLESS are preferred. I shattered a glass I bought a year ago. Never again. The On/Off button must be present. The Tare button turns on the scale. Hold the Tare button for 3 seconds or 2 minutes to turn it off. The auto-off is for 40-50 minutes a day and the battery is likely to change weekly. It wasn't a deal-breaker for casual use, but it was for me. Fast On and Tare are functions. The scale I bought in 2012 turns On and Tares in 1 second. The scale takes 3 seconds. Slower than my previous scales. It may not seem like much but for me it's a step back in technology. I'm adding ingredients that make it slower to respond to weight changes. Disappointing. The 2012 scale is perfect. Just wanted a bigger platform. The scale has a nice size platform. It's a plastic platform with a thin surface. It has 11lb capacity and is fairly durable. The buttons are not spill protected and are questionable for long term use. The display is not the same as the one in the picture. This is a good scale for dry goods. No, as a kitchen appliance. You will spill liquids. On it. Trust me. I do it several times a week. You'll be happy if you stick with my criteria.

👤This scale is digital, measures accurately, and is useful for us American's who don't know much about metric based weighing systems. It is so accurate that if you add 0.1gm too much to a recipe, you will struggle to get exact measurements as you subtract a bit of ingredient, add a bit, nope too much. If you're here, you know what I'm talking about. Great scale, does what it claims. It doesn't hold up well to direct or even indirect flame, hammer blows or violent tossings. The briquets should not be weighed with this thing. If you're tempted to see how much you weigh, this item doesn't hold up well to standing on one foot.

The old was slow to register and expensive. Wow, this new scale. It's cheap, it's fast, and it's accurate. How accurate? A member of our family works in a lab and has access to reference weights. The scale was tested with 1 g dead on, 2 g dead on, 10 g dead on, 20 g dead on, and 50 g dead on. The scale that costs less than $20 is unbelieveably accurate. If I could, I would give this scale more than 5 stars.

👤I received a kitchen scale a few days ago to replace the one that had been there for 14 years. My old scale weighed in at 1g up. I wanted a scale that could do what my old scale did, so I tried a few other scales. The scale does a better job than I anticipated. It weighs from 1g to 0.1 gram, but there is a catch, as you can see in the pictures. If you have something on it that already weighs 1g, it will be 0.1g better. In one of the pictures, it reads 299.9, and in the next one, it reads 300.2 after I added yeast. I made a poolish for may artisan bread and only needed a small amount of yeast, so this was perfect. This scale is recommended by me. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the scale around the two buttons is not "sealed" as it should be. If you drop flour, you can clean the cracks with a brush. Some always get stuck there. I put cling film on that spot. You can still use the buttons, but wipe off any ingredients that might fall on them. The manufacturer should look into this issue. It would be 5 stars to me.

👤If you are looking for a scale that is precise, I tested it with a 500g calibration weight and it weighed in at 501.2g, which is close to what you would get from the box. You can't calibrate the scale because it's not exact. It is easy to use, but I wish you could calibrate it to make sure it is accurate.

If you want to get the accuracy you want, you have to weigh the food before you put it in the package. We end up having to do that. No other app syncs with the app. The scale it's self is amazing! The software isn't worth anything more than a simple scale. The software is limited and doesn't sync with other apps. I returned the scale. The scale will be an instant success if they sync with a good app like MyFitnessPal.

Users entering product info aren't prone to quality control, that's a downside of having a user driven database. MyFitnessPal has a database that reflects that. I would be surprised if they are using the same database. MyFitnessPal integration has not yet been added. Maybe they are working on it or not. The app and hardware have grown since earlier reviews. New customers are more accommodated by the experience. One thing. I would like to see how ounces are handled changed. The precision is only 0.04 ounces when measuring in ounces. Scales have a measurement range, and more precise scales only measure up to one pound. It would be great to have a version of the scale that can measure lighter items, some manufacturers sell multiple versions of the same scale with different resolution ranges. If you are measuring something that is actually 3.14oz, it will create situations where you can't tell the difference. It should round up to 3.1oz in the case of 3.12 and 3.16 in the case of 3.16. I have seen the scale show 3.1 and 3.2 for the same item, but I don't know if it's true or not. What if the scale is actually seeing 3.16 and dropping the last digit? Users have no idea what the scale sees. It's a matter of personal preference and perception when it comes to food intake. Would users like to know if they are over or under? Seeing that they are slightly over would be good to know. The auto rounding for ounces should be disabled in the app. Users can use their own judgement rather than the scale judge to know the true measurement. I took off one star because of the scale making assumptions. The scale is designed to measure in grams and convert it to ounces via the software. It can be addressed with a software or update. If you want to have a better idea of the ounces, it is best to measure in grams and convert it manually. It's inconvenient, but in some situations it might actually matter. Even if not precise, the option to display another digit or two can be very helpful, even if it's disabled by default. The next hardware update might include a rechargeable battery with ausb-c connection. The need to purchase more batteries seems to be backwards. It makes the product seem a bit retro. Many users would appreciate the convenience of a rechargeable battery. This is a well-designed product, with a well-designed and developed app. Where other companies make less effort, Etekcity has not. The experience of using a smart food scale is better. The scales that seem to be more precise are actually inaccurate, and the app experience isn't as refined or extensive. I already knew the true weight of the items I tested. The others were all over the place, with no option to calibrate. A lot of work is being put into their platform by Etekcity, who created a quality item. I highly recommend this product, as I look forward to seeing how it develops.

I chose a scale that uses standard batteries instead of button batteries so it won't be difficult to replace. This one fits the bill. Two quarters round off accurately to 11 grams because a quarter weighs 5.67 grams. A dime is 2.268 grams. The scale reported 1 gram for a single dime but 2 dimes at 4 grams. It did not register accurately starting at 1 gram, but it is accurate enough for my use since I am not using to weigh crack.

I had an issue with how rough some of the numbers were before I got this scale. It probably didn't matter if the errors were more or less consistent over time, but it was always a pain to try to decide if the banana was in the small, medium, or large size. I noticed that the volume serving size listed on the nutrition label wasn't as close to the weight numbers as it should be. I have no idea how many cups a package contains, but I have noticed that the cups per package they claim is correct is far from being correct, and I can now confirm that with this scale. I eat a lot of cereals, so having the calories/protein/carbs numbers be wrong by 50% with every bowl matters, so this scale really helps with accuracy there and I'm sure for many other products as well. Tracking calories is easier now that I have a scale, and I feel more confident that it's also a lot more accurate. Drop a banana on the scale and get the number of grams. Put a bowl on the scale, press the reset button, pour cereals, and count the grams. I don't need to use a measuring cup with my coffee anymore because they have an option to weigh fluid ounces of milk. Put the cup on the scale, set it to milk ounces, pour the milk, and read off the number. Some reviewers have had problems with the scale not staying at zero, but I have had no problems with that. It's always at zero when I turn it on. When I put a dish on it, it always goes to zero. Some reviewers said they had a problem with the plastic tabs on the unit, which were not required to be removed before use. I don't know if they updated the model or not, but the one I got was just about ready to go out of the box, but I had to pull out the plastic protectors from the battery compartment, which took two seconds.

The only way to improve this scale is to increase its accuracy.

If the scale balance doesn't change, the automatic shutoff feature in this scale will only be used for 2 minutes and 15 seconds. This seems to be faulty as it will shut off automatically when I am pouring coffee. It doesn't happen at 2 min, 15 min but sooner.

👤Don't bake without one. Accuracy in baking is more important than weighing ingredients for cooking. If you let several people measure a cup of flour by volume, you'll get many different results. If you want excellent results, weigh your ingredients, but for example 8 oz. of flour will always be 8 oz, no matter if it's sifted, banged down, or whatever. This is useful when weighing liquids because you can simply weigh your bowl and eliminate the need for measuring into a cup and then pouring the liquid into the bowl. If you weigh sour cream in a mixing bowl or cooking vessel, all of it ends up in the product, instead of being left in a cup that you can't remove. If you want to add an ingredient, press the "zero" button and continue adding ingredients, as if you were working with an empty container, then having a scale with the "zero" feature is really helpful. This can work with up to 11 pounds of ingredients. You can use this for weighing packages for mailing, where the cost of postage is calculated in ounces and pounds. You will never go back if you are annoyed by recipes that only give you ingredient amounts by volume. I add information to my recipe when I have a recipe that only has volume measurements. You can find accurate weight measurement on the internet. Being able to measure in grams is very useful for small amounts of flour. You will raise your baking game if you purchase one of these. Go. bake!

I have a 50g weight that I use to calibrate my dye scale, so I tested it out in the center, and it worked perfectly. It took a few seconds to settle at 50, but it did every time. The scale I chose was the only one I had thought of that had a weighing platform raised, so large items don't cover the display. I use it to weigh outgoing packages and envelopes to buy online postage labels, but it can be difficult to see if there is a large overhang. I use my phone camera to take pictures. I have had the scale for a while now. I keep it in a cabinet because it gets moved every time I use it. I was worried that it would be flimsy and break easily, but so far, so good. It was spilled on and cleaned up without any problems. The pictures were taken today, so they are still accurate. I can't believe it cost me less than $20, I love this scale. I would have liked it more if it was twice the price. I highly recommend this scale if you need a basic but very accurate kitchen or postage scale.
