Best Watkins Baking Vanilla with Pure Vanilla Extract

👤I would have left 5 stars if I had bought this product before the last two purchases, but they have changed how this is made and it is terrible. I bought several bottles of Watkins caramel extract from Amazon. The last bottle I purchased had a strange taste when I used it, but it was not a dark brown, it was a light brown. I thought I had a bad batches. I ordered another bottle and it is just as bad. I don't know what they've changed, but the taste is terrible when used for baking and they need to change it back.

👤Do not order this if you are looking for something free. I ordered the extract and not the flavoring because the ingredients list for the extract did not include sugar. I was sent the flavoring even though I ordered the extract. I can not return it. I can not use the sugar because it is in something else.

👤I like the flavor of caramel. I was trying to stop using the kind of ice cream you should only use for top ice cream. When I found this Watkins Carmel Extract that tastes like caramel, it was the first time I'd tasted it. I was saved! I think you can do it, it only takes about 1/2 of a cup. But not here. There are many uses. I've tried it in cookies, breakfast shakes, ice cream, and coffee. I have to use caramel. I only had a few weeks with it. He is.

👤Did not see what was pictured. The ingredients are not the same. Disappointing! The ingredient list should include: Propylene glycol, artificial flavor, water, caramel color. It contains sulfur.

👤I missed the old glass bottles because they were the real thing. The plastic seems to lose some of the flavor, but I guess it's just the way it is. I used it to make my apples on the stove with a caramel flavor. They can be used as a side dish to backed chicken or turkey dishes or as a dessert with ice cream.

👤This has a bad flavor. I've tried to get used to it. It's not happening. Watkins used to have a good caramel. Maybe they changed the formula? It runs down the bottle when I pour it on the spoon.

👤The extract has a great caramel taste and is very convincing in baked goods or syrups. I use it in oatmeal, yogurt, tea, and even a few drops of tea with almond milk. It's a dark-colored product, so be careful. If you spill something, make sure to clean it up immediately or it will be difficult to remove. I've never let it sit that long, but I assume it could stain. I didn't remove a star, but from my own carelessness, I've ended up with a mess a couple of times.

I could have bought the coloring at the store and gotten a better result. I used it to color the cake batter. The package doesn't say not to use in baking. The batter was vibrant and beautiful when I mixed it with the colors. The cake layers were baked in the oven. By the time the layers were done cooking, the colors were gone. The emerald green layer looked like a fuzzy mold. I don't recommend buying these. I will never do that again. They are not natural.

👤I have tried many natural food dyes to accommodate my customers. I liked these because they are less expensive than other brands and the colors work great in natural dyes. These are not made with 100% natural vegetable juices and spices as the package claims. I was really disappointed after reading the ingredients and realizing they still contain chemicals I was trying to avoid. I really wanted to like these.

👤The red coloring has sugar in it. My son has a very restricted diet and he cannot have sugar. He was excited to be able to make things red. The green was so thick it wouldn't drain out of the tube and the lid popped off, dumping half of the bottle into the frosting I was making. The colors are lovely and I appreciate having a natural alternative. I wish I'd read the ingredients before ordering. This is not what I was hoping for. If you buy them, be aware of the viscosity and remove the lid if they get thick.

👤Other reviewers have noted that the red comes out more purple. The blue and green are lovely shades of calm. I had an issue with one bottle being blocked with a strand but it was removed and the bottle worked fine. If you don't expect these to be like artificial dyes, you'll enjoy them. I used them to color. I tried to combine yellow and red to make orange, but ended up with brown. After sitting in the fridge overnight, that became muddy yellow. Not sure if you could make orange with this set. I made a purple with red and blue.

👤I needed a small bottle to get a green color in the dough for my Christmas cookies, but I bought this to make them. I baked the first batches and low and behold the cookies are pale in color and the kids like them, but the rest had to be decorated with red and green sprinkles. I have never had a problem with the products I have bought before. I think it's a good idea to say on the label that it's all natural and juices and veg are used in the manufacture, but if it's not going to hold a color in baking I think it's a bad idea.

👤I love it! The string caramel flavor is good. If you start with 1/2 of a cup, you will be on your way to using a full cup. I've used it in a lot of things. I couldn't find it in some stores. When I shipped there, I used d to find it in Walmart. It was very expensive on Amazon. Almost $7. It's under $2 at Walmart. I like using other watkins extracts. caramel is my favorite. Yes. I spent it. Highly recommend all Watkins extracts.

The service has gone down a lot. This product is not listed correctly. You will only be receiving one bottle. It is too expensive for one.

👤This is a good product, but disappointing when it comes to the lemon part. I was looking for a lemon pepper with no salt and Watkins was the only company that could do it. I wanted to get a lemon flavor for my grilled chicken and fish. There was no lemon and lots of pepper. Amazon doesn't allow food returns, so you have to pay $25 for ground pepper.

👤For several years I have told everyone that Watkins' Black Pepper is in a league of it's own. When I saw the organic version, I was so excited that they had found a way to make the best pepper even better. The 3 pack was a good deal. I thought differently. The original Watkins ground black pepper is far inferior to this pepper. The black pepper cans are better than this product. The taste is ok, but the texture is fluffy and bland. You know what I mean. When you buy a cheap salt and pepper combo because you need a new salt and pepper, you end up randomly using the pepper half and realize how cheap it is. How it could blow away if you opened the microwave door too quickly. It is fluffy. The pepper is gross. If I am buying pepper, I either want a coarse chunk from a peppercorn grinder or I want it to flow like sand from a shaker and cling to anything moist that it touches. I just emptied the container from the pencil sharpener over my food. That is what this pepper does. I have three jars of it.

There is a wonderful, warm Aroma missing in the small bottle version of Gourmet, but there is immediate flavor with 2 ounces. Watkins went on the cheap with the "organic" label. Can we get the GOURMET back at the original price of $7?

👤Watkin's has not on the cinnamon. It is possible to taste the flavor in the baked goods. I only buy Watkins black pepper. They will only have cinnamon. The house has a lot of smells.

👤I used to eat Mexican foods. It's a mild coconutty/cinnamon scent. It has a rounded and soft flavor. There is no sharpness to it, no bite of alcohol, and no taste of alcohol. That's the flavor of Mexican Vainilla. The taste of the extract that is sold in the US is very good. It's not as strong as the bottle suggests, but it still has a nice flavor and can be used in cooking. It can be a bit bitter because of the alcohol. Both flavors are very different. If you are expecting a pure flavor with a bite, then what do you think? This is not for you. Are you expecting a sweeter coconutty/cinnamony vanilla flavor? These are for you.

👤The produce arrived well packaged and on time. I have been a baker for many years and have my own dessert business. I was excited about the cost and the reviews when I found this. It's great for my overhead to have a great price. Don't waste your time. It's bad on it's own and in baked goods. I only use the best products in my baking. When you take a taste of real pure vanilla, it is sweet and mellow, and you think it is good. I know what furniture polish tastes like due to a dare as a youth, and this stuff tasted like furniture polish. I hoped that if I baked with it, it would turn into something wonderful, like what the other reviewers had said. Nope. Reviewers said a little goes a long way. I only use a quarter of what I normally put in my recipe, my house smells of furniture polish, and I made two baked goods that tasted like furniture polish. It'suck! Water is not the main ingredient in real vanilla.

👤This is not the same as natural vanilla. It smells like a candle. There is a buyer Beware. I won't cook with it as it smells artificial. The ingredients should be noted. "With other flavors"

👤Since it is the end of December, I reached the end of my supply. I will buy this product again. Some people are not happy with the smell of the product. I think it smells similar to the extract from the book. Icings and cookies have never tasted better. I am very pleased with this product, if there is a negative, but if all I have to complain about is a little dribble, then I say it surpasses my expectations. Thank you for the delicious ingredient.

👤I'm glad it's available on Amazon because I'm addicted to it, and I discovered it when my mom brought a few bottles back from Mexico. Since discovering this stuff, I have not used any other vanilla. It has a very rich, true vanilla flavor and is much less expensive and of higher quality than the extracts you get in US grocery stores. It makes everything better, and I use it in everything. It's amazing at a great price.

👤I would have given it a zero star, but that wasn't an option. I was excited to find pure vanilla extract at a great price and both dark and clear. What a deal, right? Save your money. This is the most disgusting tasting and smelling of vanilla I have ever come across. I've purchased pure vanilla in Mexico and it's not even close. It has a very strong fake smell and taste that is nothing like the real thing. Your end product has a taste. Again, save your money and time by not buying this product.
